Rizal Shrine |
History tells us that Dapitan City was the place of exile of our national hero - Dr. Jose P. Rizal.But other than being the place of exile of Rizal, Dapitan City offers a variety of tourist spots in the area.
Dakak Beach
The most popular destination in Dapitan City is the Dakak Beach. It is known for its shaped cove and powdery white sand beach.
Rizal Shrine
Casa Cuadrada
This is the place where Rizal spent his four years of exile. It is the main house that served as the residence of Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
Rizal Museum (also inside the Rizal Shrine)
It houses the various artifacts left by Rizal.
Mi Retiro Rock (also inside Rizal Shrine)
This is where Rizal wrote his poem "Mi Retiro" and "Himno a Talisay." It is a naturally hear-shaped rock with an artificial lagoon.
Casitas Hospitales
Originally, the two houses were tea houses but were converted to clinics to accommodate patients from Dapitan City.
This was the spot where Rizal and Valenzuela talked about the Katipunan.
This was the site where Rizal landed in Dapitan (outside the Rizal Shrine).
